About
Sharjah Maritime Academy (SMA) is a premier higher education institution located in the strategic port city of Khorfakkan, Sharjah. Established to foster global standards in maritime education, SMA is regulated by the UAE Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. It is the only institution in the UAE offering CAA-accredited baccalaureate level degrees in maritime studies, including Marine Engineering Technology, Maritime Transport, and Logistics. The academy features state-of-the-art simulators, interactive engineering workshops, and a 900-seat auditorium. SMA is notably progressive, boasting the highest female enrollment (37%) among maritime institutions in the Middle East. Students gain real-world expertise through IMO-recognized Certificates of Competency (CoC) and practical training on international vessels.
